On August 2, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Varanasi, transferring financial benefits directly to the bank accounts of crores of eligible farmers across the country. If you have not received the benefit of the PM Kisan installment, then there can be many reasons behind it. For this, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has also given information about many reasons. Let us also tell you the reasons why your 20th installment may be stopped.
Why was the 20th installment stopped?
The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has identified several suspicious cases that may fall under the exclusion criteria defined in the PM Kisan Guidelines. According to the PM Kisan website, the benefits of such cases have been temporarily stopped till physical verification. Some of the common reasons for withholding payments are as follows:
Land ownership issues: Farmers who acquired agricultural land after February 1, 2019, are not eligible for this scheme.
Multiple family members receiving benefits: If more than one member of the same family (such as husband and wife, or adult and minor children) is receiving benefits, it may be marked for verification.
Incorrect or duplicate details: Errors in Aadhaar, bank, or land records can also hold up payments.
E-KYC: E-KYC is mandatory for PM Kisan-registered farmers.
