An interesting match was played between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians on Sunday in IPL 2025. Mumbai batted first and scored 205 runs in 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. In reply, Delhi's team's score at one point was 164 for six in 16 overs. They needed 42 runs in 24 balls, but a total of four wickets in the 18th and 19th overs put them off the winning track. After the match, Delhi captain Axar Patel blamed his batsmen for the defeat. He said that from the batting point of view, this match will have to be forgotten as soon as possible. At the same time, Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya looked very happy after the second win and praised 37-year-old spinner Karn Sharma. Karn also became the Player of the Match.

When Karun Nair and KL Rahul were at the crease, it seemed that Delhi's team would win the match easily. However, as soon as Karun was out, Delhi's team collapsed. KL Rahul was dismissed after scoring 15 runs in 13 balls, and Vipraaj Nigam after scoring 14 runs in eight balls. In the 19th over, Delhi lost three wickets in three consecutive balls. The surprising thing is that all three players were run out. Ashutosh Sharma was run out on the fourth ball of the over, Kuldeep Yadav on the fifth ball, and Mohit Sharma on the last ball. This reduced Delhi's innings to 193 runs.
After the defeat, Akshar said, 'The match was in our bag. In the middle order, some players got out on good balls, while some played bad shots and threw their wickets. You cannot leave it to the lower-order batsmen every time. There is no need to think too much. This is one of those bad days. Was happy till half the match. The ball was stopping initially, but it got better and then the dew helped us more. Two of our three spinners can bowl in the powerplay and death as well. Kuldeep is bowling incredibly well. This game needs to be forgotten in terms of batting.'
On the other hand, Mumbai captain Hardik said, 'Winning is always special, especially a win like this. He (Karun Nair) was batting brilliantly and it seemed that the match was slipping out of hand. Karn Sharma showed great spirit. He showed bravery with the ball in the match. Tossing the ball when the boundary was only 60 meters long was powerful to watch. We never gave up. We kept saying that we wanted to stay in the match. Everyone performed well and we were successful in keeping our chances.'
On the batting order, Hardik said, 'I wanted those players who are in form to play the most balls. Dew played an important role later. There was dew in Delhi. Just needed to ensure that the game was not over. We wanted to keep fighting and this was the message in the team. We knew that one or two wickets would change the course of the match. This has happened to me before as well. Such a win changes the rhythm and changes everything.'

This was Mumbai's second win of this season. The team is in the seventh position in the points table with four losses and two wins in six matches. It has four points and a net run rate of +0.104. On the other hand, this is Delhi's first loss in five matches. The team is in the second position in the points table with four wins and eight points. Its net run rate is +0.899. Delhi's next match is against Rajasthan Royals on April 16 in Delhi itself. On the other hand, Mumbai's next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 17 at Wankhede.
