Khachrod (Madhya Pradesh): The absence of a permanent district panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is hindering progress of ongoing projects, including construction of homes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana along with developmental works in 130 gram panchayats under Khachrod district panchayat, said district panchayat president Prithviraj Singh Pawar.
Despite multiple appeals to the government a permanent CEO has not been appointed, claimed president Pawar.
Pawar said 8,200 beneficiaries were not receiving their housing instalments due to lack of a permanent CEO.
Additionally, projects funded by MLA and MP fund and the 15th Finance Commission for water conservation were also pending.
“Secretaries of 130 gram panchayats have not received their salaries for March and April,” said Pawar. In protest, they plan to go on collective leave from May 7 to May 9 which will further hinder public welfare activities.
Pawar urged the administration to appoint a permanent CEO and address the salary issue quickly. He warned that if these matters were not resolved, he would resort to a hunger strike in front of the district office and would hold administration accountable for the ongoing crisis.
