Lucknow: The complaint of passengers travelling in the AC compartment of the Lucknow-Barauni Express train of low cooling led to a shocking discovery. When the technician opened the AC duct, he was stunned to find liquor bottles hidden inside in huge numbers. More than 150 bottles were recovered when the entire coach was searched. Incidents of liquor smuggling have also happened earlier in Lucknow-Barauni, but this has been caught for the first time at Lucknow station.
On Tuesday, Vipin Kumar, who was sitting in seat number 40 in the second AC coach (A-2) of the train, complained about the lack of cooling. The technical staff reached the train ahead of Budhwal and started the investigation. As soon as a duct was opened, some bottles wrapped in paper were found inside it. After removing the paper, it was found that it was the liquor of the Officer's Choice band.

Over 150 Bottles Recovered During The Search
With the help of RPF and GRP personnel, the ducts of the entire coach were opened, and more than 150 bottles were recovered. RPF Lucknow Junction Inspector Amit Rai said that the train was inspected near Gonda. It is reported that 22 packets were found.
The shocking discovery is also concernful as the smugglers could have been smuggling the liquor to Bihar, which is a dry state.
This is not the first time liquor smuggling has been caught on this train. In another incident, around 700 tetra packs of alcohol were busted in May. The accused was a member of the generator power car staff on the train.
