A 16-year-old girl and her partner have been detained for the alleged murder of her 40-year-old mother in Lucknow's Chinhat area. The victim, Usha Singh, was found with her throat slit in their Semra village home early Sunday morning.
Police revealed the daughter initially claimed unknown assailants committed the crime. However, investigators grew suspicious when forensic evidence contradicted her account. During interrogation, she reportedly confessed to the murder with her partner's involvement.
The accused allegedly staged the scene by removing the victim's clothes to simulate a sexual assault. Neighbors reported hearing the daughter scream around 3:30 AM, claiming her mother was unresponsive.
Usha Singh, a housekeeping staffer at the Audit Bhawan, had previously filed a police complaint against the detained partner after her daughter eloped with him last year. The partner had recently been released from jail in that case.
