Nico Hulkenberg is set to be disqualified from the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Sauber driver's car has failed post-race checks carried out by FIA personnel and the German has been summoned to the stewards for a meeting over the matter.
Those checks found too much wear to the skid block underneath his car, which needs to be at least nine millimetres thick when it is measured at the end of the race by scrutineers. It is the same infraction for which was disqualified following the Chinese Grand Prix last month.
FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer said: "The rearmost skid was measured. Measurements were taken along the stiffness compliant area at three different points of the periphery (inner arc). The recorded measurement were 8.4 mm (LHS), 8.5 mm (car centerline) and 8.4 mm (RHS).

"As this is less than the 9 mm minimum thickness required by TR Article 3.5.9 e), I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration." The stewards have now announced an investigation and disqualification seems inevitable for Hulkenberg.
