Kerry Katona shocks her kids with two new additions to the family

has welcomed two adorable sausage dogs into her family, surprising her children for DJ and Max's birthdays. The mum-of-five was thrilled to introduce Phoebe and Joey as the latest furry additions following DJ's 11th birthday bash and ahead of Max's upcoming 17th celebration.

Writing in her column, Kerry shared: "So, we've got two new additions to the family - Phoebe and Joey the sausage ! It was DJ's 11th birthday last Friday and it's Max's 17th birthday this Friday, so the puppies were an early gift for them both."

Despite originally planning to get just one canine companion, Kerry couldn't resist doubling the love, adding: "My plan was only to get one, but Heidi and I went to visit the litter and ended up with two - we couldn't help it. They're so adorable, they just sleep and cuddle us all day long!".

The former pop star also admitted to almost opting for a reptilian gift for DJ but settled on the pups. In her column, Kerry, , opened up about family life and how pleased her children were with the furry friends.

She wrote: "DJ originally wanted a gecko for her birthday, but I wasn't keen on getting her one as I've heard they're a lot of work. And Max has wanted a sausage dog for his whole life, so his face when I brought them home was priceless. It was lovely to see how happy they were and how grateful my children are."

, who famously shares kids Molly, 23, Lilly Sue, 22, with ex Westlife star Brian McFadden, Heidi, 17, Max, 16, with former husband Mark Croft, and youngest DJ, 10, with late spouse George Kay, is well-known for her tumultuous personal life.

She recently made headlines after a . Confirmed in an emotional admission to OK! in November, Kerry revealed that Ryan had moved out of their shared Cheshire pad due to some trust issues, signalling the end of their engagement caused by what she described as a "breach of trust."

Ryan became part of Kerry's life when they matched on a dating app back in 2018; their whirlwind romance led to an engagement during a holiday in Spain celebrating Kerry's 40th birthday, where he proposed with the blessings from her brood of five.

Before the , Kerry expressed fears about walking down the aisle once more, having experienced a series of failed marriages.

Now, it seems Kerry's back to her bubbly self, pouring her heart into her brood and their adorable new pets, which she says are perfect for "cuddle" sessions all day.

The reality TV star has always been a huge animal lover, which was evident when she was left devastated after her beloved 17 year old pooch Paddy, affectionately known as Patrick, had to be put to sleep in 2020. Paddy was battling a myriad of health issues including heart and lung disease, , cancer, "doggy dementia", and incontinence.

Kerry took to to share her grief at the time, posting touching snaps of each family member cherishing moments with their furry friend.
