In the first lap of Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race, a chain reaction incident saw 11 riders fall from their bikes with two suffering fatal injuries. The meeting was abandoned after the crash, with emergency medical treatment administered on the track.
A statement released by MotorSport Vision Racing and British Superbikes on Monday evening offered an update on those involved, including the tragic news of Jenner and Richardson's deaths.
The statement reads: "At the start of this afternoon’s Quattro Group British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park, exiting turn one, Old Hall corner on the first lap, there was a chain reaction incident involving 11 riders falling. The race was immediately stopped and trackside medical services deployed.
"Due to the extreme severity of the incident and ongoing medical intervention, the remainder of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship event was cancelled.

"This catastrophic accident has tragically resulted in two riders being fatally injured, and another sustaining significant injuries.
"Owen Jenner (21) was initially treated trackside and then taken to the circuit medical centre, where despite further resuscitation treatment, he died from a catastrophic head injury.
"Shane Richardson (29) was initially treated trackside and then taken to the circuit medical centre before being transferred to Royal Stoke University Hospital with severe chest injuries. He died prior to arrival."
Honda Racing, who have a team in the Supersport championship, have added their tribute to the riders involved in Monday's incident.
They said in a statement: "The motorcycle community is tightly knit and we share the profound sadness at the outcome of today’s accident at Oulton Park. Our thoughts are with the riders, their families, friends, team members and the entire BSB paddock. We go through days like this as one community."
Mat Oxley, a former Isle of Man TT champion, has paid tribute to the two riders who have tragically lost their lives.
Oxley said: "There are times when you hate yourself for loving motorcycle racing and this is one of them. RIP Owen Jenner & Shane Richardson, who lost their lives at Oulton today. Thoughts with their friends & loved ones & everyone involved in this horrific incident."
Since the announcement, tributes have also poured in for both riders across social media. One fan wrote: "Absolutely devastating day for the sport as a whole highlighting the dangers these riders go through for their and our enjoyment and passion. God speed both of them and speedy recovery to those who are injured."
Another added: "Extremely sad news, a deeply tragic loss of Owen and Shane. My deepest condolences to their family, friends and team members. Thank you to all the marshalls, police, paramedics and all those who dealt with the incident today, may those affected be given equal love and support."
A third said: "No words. Terrible, terrible day for our sport. Deepest condolences to family and friends of the riders involved."
While a fourth added: "Heartbreaking. Our love, strength and condolences to all those affected."
Cheshire Police have since confirmed they are investigating the incident on behalf of the coroner. "Police are investigating two deaths on behalf of the coroner following a multiple collision at Oulton Park this afternoon (Monday 5 May)m" the statement reads.
"Emergency services were called to the scene following the collision which resulted in two riders being fatally injured and another with serious injuries. Due to the severity of the incident and ongoing medical intervention, the remainder of the event was cancelled.
"The two riders who sadly died have been named as Owen Jenner (21) and Shane Richardson (29). The Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board and MotorSport Vision Racing are investigating the full circumstances of the incident in conjunction with the Coroner and Cheshire Police."
