Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Thursday night at Kilmoyler in Cahir after the car left the road at Kilaldry Bridge and entered the River Aherlow after 10pm last night. The teenage driver of the car was the only occupant of the car and died in the tragedy. The unnamed teenager's body was recovered from the water this morning by members of the water unit and was taken to the mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The L3101 road is currently closed and local diversions are in place as investigations continue. A technical examination is being conducted by forensic collision investigators at present.
A spokesman for the Garda said: "A teenager has died after the car she was driving left the road and entered a river in Co Tipperary, gardai have said. Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene of the single-vehicle road crash on Thursday night at Kilmoyler in Cahir.
"The car left the road at Kilaldry Bridge, Kilmoyler, and entered the River Aherlow after 10pm. The driver of the car, a teenage girl and only occupant of the car, was killed.
"Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or been in the Kilmoyler area to contact them.
"Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the L3101 or in the Kilmoyler area between 10pm and midnight on Thursday are asked to make this available to investigating gardai.
"Anyone with information asked to contact Cahir garda station on 052 7445630, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station."
