Top Pick THE FEUD, CHANNEL 5, 9pm

With blood spattered on the walls and a family photo smashed on the carpet, it’s not the best look for an estate agent’s house tour. They might want to give the place a lick of paint before trying to sell this property. Flashback to one month earlier before this house apparently became a crime scene. Jill Halfpenny and Rupert Penry Jones take the lead roles in this thriller as Emma and John Barnett, who appear to live an idyllic life on Shelbury Drive. Emma is a criminal defence solicitor enjoying her suburban life, despite dealing with their stroppy teenage daughter Beth. She likes all her neighbours, including Alan and Sonia next door, older couple Derek and Barbara (whose son Marcus suddenly disappeared a few years ago) and even oddball Nick.

However, when she decides that they shouldn’t move after all, but should stay and do a kitchen extension instead… well the innocent house project triggers all hell breaking loose. John clearly wants to leave, Derek and Barbara object to the plans because of their precious tree (why does Barbara cry while watering it?), Nick uses CCTV to keep an eye on things, while Alan is also less than thrilled that the couple is staying. Expect sidelong glances, much curtain twitching and lots of staring wistfully out of windows, while Beth starts a photo project - bet that will come in handy later on… Music strains in the background and everything signposts ‘Something bad is going to happen’. It’s not the most edgy of dramas, but a good cast and twisty plot will keep you hooked. Continues tomorrow.

The best of the rest... THE LAST OF US, SKY ATLANTIC, 9pm

The acclaimed post-apocalyptic drama that had everyone talking returns for a second season that promises jaw-dropping moments. It continues the story of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), the surrogate father and daughter survivors of a pandemic, as they face a new threat from a vengeful soldier, Abby (Kaitlyn Dever). Season one ended with Joel making a bold decision as he was torn by his love for Ellie and the fate of mankind.

This season, partly adapted from the 2020 game sequel, picks up the action five years later, where Joel and Ellie are now living a quiet life in Jackson, Wyoming. Joel is even having regular therapy from a whiskey-loving therapist Gail, played by the brilliant Schitt’s Creek star Catherine O’Hara. But Ellie has become a bit of a moody teenager - and if Joel thinks that was problematic, wait until Abby arrives. The peace most certainly has been ruined. Expect infection-riddled zombies, cinematic set pieces and much emotional life-and-death trauma.

REBUILDING NOTRE-DAME: THE LAST CHAPTER, BBC2, 9pm

Five years ago, disaster struck when a devastating fire ripped through the iconic gothic cathedral, Notre Dame de Paris. It’s still not known how the fire started. Historian Lucy Worsley, grinning with hard hat on, couldn’t be more thrilled to get the chance to revisit the rebuild project in its final stages. It’s a race to the end of this ambitious restoration in time for the reopening - the whole thing has been like a gigantic puzzle, revealing amazing ancient technology.

Donors have contributed nearly £800 million towards this effort which has seen the team remove toxic lead dust, clean stained glass windows, reconstruct the roof, fill three gaping holes in the stone vaulting, rebuild the timber framework of almost 1,000 oak beams, cover it with 3,000 sqm of lead sheets and raise the iconic 65m spire. Materials shipped in include 2,500 tonnes of stone and 2,400 oak trees. Lucy says: “It’s beginning to look like a church again. It’s still noisy but there’s serenity underneath.”
