Maruti Suzuki Dzire, priced starting at ₹6.84 lakh ex-showroom, has secured the top position in the Indian car market for July 2025, overtaking the long-reigning Hyundai Creta. In July, Maruti Suzuki sold 20,895 units of Dzire, outpacing Creta’s 16,898 units. This remarkable achievement marks the first time in the current financial year that Dzire has led the overall sales chart, reflecting its surging popularity, especially in smaller cities and towns.
The recent generation of Dzire, launched in November last year, has contributed to this success with a refreshed design, enhanced safety, and updated features. Notably, it became the first Maruti car to secure a 5-star safety rating. Dzire’s appeal lies in its blend of high fuel efficiency, robust build, and accessible pricing.

In June 2025, Dzire sales stood at 15,484 units, and this strong growth momentum propelled it ahead of Creta in July. The model’s growing demand underscores the continued importance of compact sedans in India, even as SUVs remain popular.
Meanwhile, Hyundai’s Creta, the best-selling SUV for several months and leader in the mid-size SUV segment, saw total sales of 16,898 units in July. While the Creta continues to perform strongly, the Dzire’s rise highlights Maruti Suzuki’s dominance and the dynamic nature of the Indian car market.
