An individual alleged to have opened fire at Florida State University has been shot by police, a police source told CNN.
Two police sources told the outlet that the suspect is among six people hospitalised following the incident, which took place on the campus in Tallahassee at about lunchtime local time on Thursday (April 17). The suspect's condition is currently unknown.
The alleged shooter was found with a handgun, a law enforcement official said. They said a gun was also found in the university's student union building and another in a car used by the suspect, as per CNN.
The university urged students to take shelter after it was reported the shooter was in the student union area. There were initial reports at least four people were hospitalised, but the figure was later revised up to six.
One of those six people was said to be fighting for their life, with the remainder said to be in a serious condition.
