A fatal collision on the A55 has left one man dead and the major road remained closed for seven hours. The deadly crash took place in the eastbound lanes at Halkyn in the early hours of Saturday morning. The major A-road was closed for several hours in the eastbound direction at the junction for Caerwys, leading to travel disruption in the area.
A man died in the single-car collision, the police confirmed, as they urged any witnesses to the incident, or vehicles with dashcams who were travelling nearby, to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: "At 00:47hrs North Wales Police received multiple reports of a single vehicle collision at junction 32 on the eastbound carriageway of the A55 involving a Ford Ranger pick-up.
"The emergency services attended, however sadly, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene."
Detective Sergeant Katie Davies of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends at this difficult time. They will now be supported by a specially trained Family Liaison Officer."
She continued: "Our enquiries are underway, and we are urging anybody who may have witnessed the collision and who are yet to speak to us, or anybody who was travelling along the A55 near to the Halkyn area and who may have dash cam footage to contact us as soon as possible."

The A55 was closed from around 1am until 8.30am this morning (October 11), North Wales Live reported, as traffic was diverted off the road. Drivers reported seeing several police cars, ambulances and firefighters at the scene.
The spokesperson added: "The road was closed to allow officers from the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to carry out their initial enquiries, and the A55 re-opened at approximately 8:30am.
