This part of the UK is known for its iconic culture, and exciting atmosphere yet it's not somewhere Brits often pick for a weekend away.
Glasgow is the third largest city in the UK after London and Birmingham and the is a hub for history and art.
Despite being bigger than Edinburgh, Glasgow might lack the name appeal of Scotland's capital.
But there are many things to do and see if you're visiting for the weekend with one of the most to visit being the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
Entry is free and according to Tripadvisor, the museum is is Scotland's most visited free attraction.
It has 22 themed, state-of-the-art galleries displaying 8000 objects - the collections are extensive, wide-ranging and internationally-significant.
A visitor on Tripadvisor said: "Kelvingrove is very popular and for good reason. It's a beautiful space with a well laid out plan.
"It truly has something for everyone, with history, science and art. In the art section there are great rooms dedicated to the Glasgow Boys and also the Scottish Colourists. A must see in Glasgow."
The city is known for its well preserved old architecture, which is evident in the churches and museums which are scattered through its streets.

It is also recognised as a UNESCO City of Music with a - it has birthed bands such as Franz Ferdinand and the Fratellis.
If you're looking to take a while in the city, a great place to visit is Glasgow Botanic Gardens - its unique glasshouse is a familiar landmark in the city.
One visitor on Tripadvisor said: "Free gardens and greenhouses in Glasgow. I came here with some friends during the day on a weekday and there were still quite a few people sitting on benches and strolling along the paths.
"It's possible to run along a trail as well. It's a cute spot to hang out with friends or go on a date. The greenhouses are quite warm so that was nice on a cold day. The and it was nice to get out in nature."
