The future of Hera Pheri 3, the highly anticipated installment in one of the most beloved comedy franchises of Bollywood, has hit a major roadblock. Akshay Kumar’s production company, Cape of Good Films, has served a legal notice to veteran actor Paresh Rawal following his abrupt withdrawal from the film.
According to Pooja Tidke, Joint Managing Partner at Parinam Law Associates, the actor was given a week to respond and pay Rs 25 crore in damages. However, no reply has yet been received from Paresh Rawal.
Pooja Tidke, speaking to PTI, emphasised that the situation has serious legal ramifications. She explained that Paresh Rawal’s sudden exit has caused significant disruption and financial loss, given that investments had already been made in cast, crew, senior actors, equipment and even the filming of a trailer and a three-and-a-half-minute segment of the movie.
Paresh Rawal reportedly informed the production house only recently and unexpectedly that he no longer wished to be part of the film, a move that left the team stunned.
The fallout, as described by Pooja Tidke, includes reputational damage to the other committed actors and disappointment among the franchise’s loyal fan base. Despite the current impasse, the production team remains hopeful for a resolution that might see Paresh Rawal return, although nothing is confirmed at this stage.
Adding a glimmer of optimism to the situation, actor Suniel Shetty recently shared in an interview that Paresh Rawal has agreed to meet him to discuss the matter. Suniel Shetty, who has been deeply invested in the project alongside Akshay Kumar, expressed heartbreak over Paresh Rawal’s sudden decision but is looking forward to the conversation in hopes of salvaging the film’s original trio.
As legal discussions continue and fans await updates, the fate of Hera Pheri 3 now hangs in the balance, with the possibility of a reunion still not entirely ruled out.
