Aspirants protest delay in JPSC results

Ranchi: Hundreds of state civil service aspirants on Tuesday protested outside the Jharkhand Public Service Commission's (JPSC) office over the delay in publishing of several recruitment examinations which were held recently. Heavy police deployments were made to prevent any untoward incident outside the office by district administration.

The demonstrators demanded that the results of 11th and 13th JPSC Civil Services (Mains) be published at once. On Thursday, the aspirants begun an indefinite hunger strike under the banner of Jharkhand State Students Association (JSSA) to press for their demands.

JSSA president Satyanarayan Shukla said the results were held back for nearly a year. "By withholding the results, the JPSC has made our lives uncertain. We urged the Governor and appealed to the JPSC chairman, but our demands were not fulfilled. Now, we are ready to go to any extent for the results and will continue our hunger strike," he said.

The protestors also demanded for declaration of results of several other recruitment processes, including civil judges, assistant professors, and assistant doctors of homeopathy, which have been languishing in different stages of the process for a long time.

When contacted, JPSC chairman L Khiangte's office declined to comment on the issue. Last week, CM Hemant Soren said state govt cant not interfere in JPSC's matters as it is an independent body.
