Department of Government Efficiency aka DOGE is on a hiring spree, reports Wired. Quoting a candidate who recently applied for a position at the Elon Musk-led task force, the report stated that the hiring process at DOGE involves a five-stage interview process that takes place over a couple of weeks.
Five-stage hiring process at DOGE
It begins with a short 15-minute screening call with a recruiter. After that, applicants are given a technical assessment that they have to complete in three days. If applicants clear this screening, they move on to two different technical interviews with DOGE staff.
The fifth and final stage is a placement interview, where applicants learn more about what kinds of work they would be assigned if hired.
The DOGE’s website has a “Join DOGE” page that states it is “looking for world-class talent to work long hours identifying/eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse. These are full-time, salaried positions for software engineers, product managers, designers, lawyers, data scientists, business analysts, cybersecurity professionals, and other fields.”
How much salary does DOGE pays its staff
According to the report, DOGE is offering salaries between $120,000 (roughly ₹10,236,478) and $190,000 for new roles. The positions include software engineers, IT operations engineers, and project managers, which fall under the GS-13 to GS-15 federal pay scale. The salary details came from another candidate who spoke with a recruiter during the hiring process.
A former U.S. Digital Service (USDS) employee told Wired that this range is in line with what USDS has paid in previous years. However, the report also notes that some DOGE staff without prior government experience are earning more than $120,000, in some cases matching or exceeding the pay of long-serving federal employees.
In its report, Wired also claimed that it has reviewed an agreement showing that the Department of Labor agreeing to reimburse USDS up to $1.3 million for the services of four DOGE members over 18 months.
