Elon Musk has confirmed that he will reduce his spending on political campaigns significantly. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO who is a financial supporter of US President Donald Trump , made this announcement in a video call during a Bloomberg forum in Doha, Qatar. This decision could represent a setback for Republicans as next year’s midterm elections approach. During the video interview, the world’s richest man said that he’ll be spending “a lot less” on political campaigns. What Elon Musk said about his upcoming political spendings


During the video interview, when Bloomberg’s Mishal Husain asked Musk about his “political influence” and whether he has decided how much he’s going to spend on the upcoming midterms.

Replying to this, Musk said: “In terms of political spending, I'm going to do a lot less in the future.”

When Husain asked the reason for the same and if it was “because of blowback,” the tech billionaire said, “I think I've done enough. Well, if I see a reason to do political spending in the future, I will do it. I do not currently see a reason.”

The interviewer also asked Musk about his political influence beyond the US and how often do you speak to Russian President Putin, he said: “I don't speak for President Putin. I was on a video call. It was him once about five years ago. Why would you think I’d speak to President Putin.”

Earlier, Musk has even scaled back his government role to dedicate more time to his businesses after his companies, including Tesla, faced intense public reaction and reported a notable drop in profits during its first quarter.
